When Travelling:
Constipation is never a pleasant experience. But it's even more unpleasant when it occurs away from home while on vacation for example, or perhaps during a business trip. Whether you're flying or driving, we've found over the years some things which, when implemented, help us to clean the colon and feel good both prior to our trip and while we travel. We hope you find it helpful. Feel free to call us if you have any questions.
How to clean your colon and keep it clean while travelling...
Before our trip:
We have a colonic ( colon hydrotherapy ) the day before or shortly before our trip...or 2 if necessary. Some people will do our Vitratox colon cleansing program beforehand.
We have good quality fiber - Vitratox Intestinal Cleanser - 2-3 times per day for 1 or more days prior to the trip. We find that the more we prepare and cleanse our colon ahead of time, the more it is to our benefit. Please see our "Recipes" section for effective ways to take fiber. Some people like to use soaked flax seeds.
We drink 1/2 our body weight in ounces of hydrating liquids such as purified WATER & fresh squeezed juices (see Jeanne's Green Clean Machine under "Recipes"). We do our best not to drink dehydrating drinks such as soda, coffee, black tea (including iced tea), or alcohol. If we do drink a dehydrating drink, for example 8 oz. of coffee, we will drink at least 8 oz. more water.
We make sure to eat lots of fruits & veggies. One reason is their high water content which helps to hydrate the colon. Also we include high fiber fruits, vegetable & legumes (please see our "Fiber Chart"). For best results, we stay away from sticky, starchy foods like cereals, grains & pasta, as well as large amounts of proteins (including nuts & seeds). We will do this for at least 1 full day before our trip. However, we find that the more days we do this, the better. Everyone has different bowel habits, so do what works best for you. Our goal is to have good bowel movements before our trip so we're not constipated & things are moving out well during our trip.
We do not eat beef or pork at least 3 days before our trip as they're difficult to digest. Dr. Oz said on the Oprah Winfrey Show that beef (& pork) will rot before it gets out of you! If we do eat beef or pork, we take Vitratox Progest digestive enzymes to help break it down & move it through our digestive system more quickly.
The day we travel:
Travelling by plane can be very dehydrating, therefore constipating, so our goal is to have hydrating drinks & food to help keep our colon clean. Therefore...
We drink lots of hydrating liquids such as purified WATER & 100% juices. We try to drink 1/2 our body weight in ounces of hydrating liquids such as WATER or juices like 100% apple juice. We try not to drink dehydrating drinks such as soda, coffee, black tea (including iced tea), or alcohol...which is what most people drink on a plane or when travelling. If we do drink a dehydrating drink, for example 8 oz. of coffee, we will drink at least 8 oz. more water. Of course we'll have to get up & use the restroom a few times but we find it helps us do better in the bathroom during our trip.
Hydrating foods are foods which have water in them. Fruits & vegetables are great. Some fruits & vegetables have more water in them then others. We put in ziplock bags lots of veggie sticks such as celery, cucumber, carrots & red peppers which have lots of water in them, and dip them in high-fiber hummus, eggplant dip, etc. Also, we bring fruit with us like apples, pears, plums, etc. We don't bring bananas because they are a sticky, starchy fruit, nor do we bring dried, DEHYDRATED fruit as the goal is to eat hydrating foods. FYI-Every airline allows us to bring our own food on the plane.
We do not eat beef or pork on a flight or on a road trip as they are difficult to digest.
During our trip:
We have good quality fiber - Vitratox Intestinal Cleanser - 2 times per day or more. Some people prefer soaked flax seeds.
We try to drink 1/2 our body weight in ounces of hydrating liquids such as purified WATER & fresh squeezed juices (preferably vegetable juices). We try not to drink dehydrating drinks such as soda, coffee, black tea (including iced tea), or alcohol. If we do drink a dehydrating drink, for example 8 oz. of coffee, we will drink at least 8 oz. more water.
We try not to eat beef or pork as they are difficult to digest. If we do, we take Progest to help break it down & move it through our digestive system as quickly as possible.
We make sure to eat lots of fruits & veggies including high fiber fruits, vegetable & legumes (please see our "Fiber Chart"). We try not to eat too many sticky, starchy foods like cereals, grains & pasta, as well as large amounts of proteins (including nuts & seeds).
If necessary, have a colonic. To find a colon therapist, go to http://www.i-act.org/
What we bring on our trip:
Vitratox Intestinal Cleanser - good quality fiber that is bulky & mucilaginous (slippery). Some people prefer flax or chia seeds.
Renewlife Cleansemore just in case problems with constipation arise.
Enema bucket (if necessary).
When we get back from our trip, we have a colonic ( colon hydrotherapy) or we begin our Vitratox 7 Day Cleanse if necessary. :-)
